How does it works?

More Flavour Info

Every coffee in our Smay's Filter Subscription is roasted to highlight its unique character. Taking into account the varietal, terroir, and flavours character of each lot. Roast levels are typically medium-light to medium, with development tailored to bring out the coffee’s sweetness, body, and clarity, while preserving its natural brightness.

Brew Guide

Each bag comes with a simple brew guide and grind reference printed on the label. Prefer a bit more detail? Once your coffee arrives, just head to our website, search your coffee by name, and you’ll find a more detailed brew guide to help you get the perfect cup.

Roasting Profile

• Roast level: Medium-light to Medium
• Total roast time: no longer than 7 minutes
• End temperature: no more than 200 °C
• RTD: around ~0:35 - 1:30 (~12 - 17% dev ratio)

Why it matters:
Filter brewing is all about letting the coffee shine. By roasting each lot to match its unique flavour profile, we ensure every cup showcases its distinct aromas and taste notes, whether floral, citrusy, fruity, or chocolaty. This careful approach lets you explore the full spectrum of seasonal specialty coffees with each delivery.

When to Open & Best Enjoyed

Why?
Freshly roasted coffee needs time to “rest.” In the first few days, it’s still releasing CO₂, which can make your cup taste sharp or gassy. Giving it a little time helps the coffee open up, bringing out more clarity, sweetness, and a cleaner finish.

(Once opened, coffee begins to age faster due to exposure to air. Enjoy within this period for the best experience.)
