About the Farm
Buku Abel sits at roughly 2,000–2,300m in the Guji zone's Hambela district, about 400km south of Addis Ababa, in a landscape of dense forest, coffee trees and enset ("false banana") plants. The area's cool climate and high elevation slow cherry ripening, producing small, dense seeds with concentrated sugars. Farmers here have been trained to pick only fully ripe, blood-red cherries for maximum sweetness. Buku Abel's naturals won back-to-back 1st-place finishes in Ethiopia's Taste of Harvest natural category in 2016 and 2017, and this lot placed 6th in the 2025–2026 competition with a cupping score of 87.65.
